Nearly two years later, the second victim, Robert Gutierrez, 53, agreed to meet on August 21, 2023, about a mile from Prowell’s home, and contacted at the same date location, officials said.
Two days later, Gutierrez’s family reported that he was missing. His body was never discovered.
According to the DA’s office, when investigators arrested Prowell last week, they found Gutierrez’s car in Prowell’s garage, and other evidence linked him to the murder.

Authorities said Prowell’s latest attack occurred on February 22, when he seduced a 40-year-old man who encountered a place four miles from his home through the same dating app.
According to the DA’s office, Prowell allegedly kidnapped the victim, stole the wallet and beat him with a baseball bat. The man managed to escape, but Prowell chased him, hit him, and broke his leg.
“Imagine these victims being deceived into thinking they were the horror and horror of meetings for some reason, just facing inexplicable violence,” Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman wrote in a statement. “These are predatory acts that show that life is totally ignored.”

According to the DA’s office, Prowell is currently probation for two separate cases of a series of thefts he committed in the Beverly Hills and the Los Angeles area between 2019 and 2021.

The masks that authorities found in the vehicle driven by Prowell appeared to resemble young white faces.

If charged, Prowell faces death or life in a state prison without the possibility of parole. A decision on whether to seek the death penalty will be made later.
