CNN Media Analyst Brian Stelter says Fatal stabbing In 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, the “Pro-Trump activist” uses it as a “political symbol.”
Recently released a video of Zarutska’s murder in Charlotte, North Carolina last month, distributed on social media. The clip shows 34-year-old Decarlos Brown standing behind her on a light rail train and stabbing her with a knife. Brown was charged with first-degree murder.
“Most murders in the United States have never been national news,” Stelter began on the CNN field on Monday. “This is for two reasons that have caught our attention. First and foremost, the video was recently released. Second, the energy of Pro-Trump activists. They picked the video from local news and ran it with it.”
“It’s kind of like an era where civil rights groups raise concerns about shootings involved in police. In this case, influential people who are consistent with Trump posted a storm on social media and did indeed post it on social media over the weekend,” Stelt continued. “Elon Musk, Charlie Kirk, other Trump-aligned figures have successfully made this meaningless death a symbol of crime in big cities.”

Stelter said the murder became a “political symbol” of “Maga Media” to promote tougher punishments and more incarceration, and he also hints about the racial factor of this anger, as the suspect, Decarlos Brown, 34, is black.
“I have to say some of the replies to Musk, some of the comments about the story are bald racists, shocked by the fear of African Americans because this man attacked a white woman,” Stert told CNN’s Brianna Keilar. “Now, the open racism on sites like X is dazzling. But there are reasonable questions about this so-called professional criminal, someone who has been a repeat offender. And, with these questions, I hope they don’t lose all the comments in all the sewage treatments on social media.”

Zarutska came to the United States when he fled the war-torn Ukraine after Russia’s invasion in 2022. She worked at a pizzeria in Charlotte and was still wearing her uniform the night of the attack after 9:45 pm on August 22.
Records obtained by Fox News Digital Show show Brown has been sentenced to more than a dozen arrests in at least a decade, including a conviction for felony theft and felony break-in and conviction in 2013, and a dangerous weapon convicted of robbery in 2015, which left him in prison for more than six years. He was released in 2020 but has been on parole until 2021, after which allegations against him include communication threats and abuse of the 911 system earlier this year.

President Donald Trump While expressing condolences to the family, he condemned the “crazy man” after Zarutska’s death.
“The madman just got up and started,” Trump said of the suspect. “It was on the tape. It wasn’t really visible because it was horrible, but it was just stabbed. She was just sitting there.”
