Dryden wins six Stanley Cups in just eight years of career Montreal Canadian. He is an all-time leader in the NHL with adjusted goal averages (2.03) and percentages allowed goals (73).
He won the Vezina Trophy for the top goalkeeper of the league five times. In his first year of qualification, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

“Ken Dryden is an outstanding athlete, but he is also an outstanding man,” said Canadian boss Geoff Molson. “He is bigger than life behind the mask. Today, we mourn not only the cornerstone of one of the greatest dynasties in hockey, but also a family man, a thoughtful citizen and a gentleman who deeply influences the lives and communities of our generation.
“Ken embodies everything Montreal Canadaens does.”
“From the moment Ken Dryden joined the Montreal Canadiens, he was a 23-year-old rookie who had a direct and lasting impact on the NHL, the Canadian franchise and goalkeeper stance,” added NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. “Ken’s love for his country is evident on the ice and on the ice.”

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney posted on social media that he was “deeply sad” to hear his death, calling him “civil servant and inspiration.”
“Very few Canadians have contributed more or higher to our country,” Carney said. “Ken Dryden is the Greater Canada in Canada. He is the best in Canada. Rest in peace.”
Dryden was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983, with a 0.922 percentage savings score of 258-57-74, an average of 2.24 goals and 46 closing ceremonies, 80-32 in the playoffs.
Dryden entered the NHL in 1971 and spent only six games before his NHL playoff debut. He and Montreal let rival Boston beat rivals in the first round and beat Chicago in the final.
He also worked at the Toronto law firm during the 1973-74 NHL season, after receiving his law degree from McGill University in Montreal.
Dryden, less than a year after retirement in 1979, joined Al Michaels at the 1980 Winter Olympics.

Dryton can be heard after Michaels’ infamous “Do you believe in miracles? Yes,” simply, “incredible.”
