Thousands of people in one Data Breach Ontrac, a delivery company in the United States. The violation occurred between April 13 and April 15, 2025 and affected more than 40,000 people nationwide.
OnTrac has 64 facilities in 31 states and operates in four major classification centers nationwide. The company was acquired by Lasopers in 2021 and has an annual revenue of approximately $1.5 billion.

Trac data breach reveals sensitive information
According to documents submitted to the Maine Attorney General, cybercriminals may have obtained:
- Name and date of birth
- Social Security Number (SSN)
- Driver’s License or Status ID
- Medical information
- Health Insurance Information
Unlike stolen credit cards, medical data and SSN Can’t be replaced simply. This makes this violation particularly dangerous.
Why OnTrac violations put your identity at risk
Exposed SSNs and IDs can pose serious risk of identity theft. A criminal can open a fraudulent bank account, file a false tax return or take over benefits.
Exposure to medical records adds another layer of risk. Stolen health data is valuable on the black web and can be used for ransomware, fraudulent insurance claims, or illegal prescription drug purchases.

How to protect yourself after ONTRAC data breach
If you receive an OnTrac violation notice, or even if you just want to be proactive, you can take the following key steps to reduce the risk of identity theft and fraud.
1) Register for free credit monitoring
OnTrac offers 12 months of free credit monitoring and identity protection. Use the activation code included in the breach letter to set your coverage. These services can alert you if your name opens a new account, or if there is suspicious activity in your credit file. Even if you are not directly affected, consider signing up for a trusted identity protection service, as hackers often recycle stolen data in multiple violations.
Identity theft companies can monitor personal information (such as your Social Security Number (SSN), phone number, and email address) and remind you if you are selling it. 2) Freeze your credit

4) Watch phishing and use antivirus software
After violations like Ontrac’s, Scammers often send fake emails, text messages or phone calls that pretend to be your bank, insurance company, or even OnTrac itself. Do not click on the link of an unknown sender or open an attachment. Instead, contact the company directly using a verified phone number or website. Stolen personal data can also be used for medical identity theft. Regularly check the benefits statement (EOB) statement for claims you do not recognize. Report suspicious fees to your insurance company now – An unfamiliar claim may mean someone is trying to take advantage of your benefits.
6) Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
