Neuehouse, a co-working club with only premium members, suddenly closed its three locations in Venice, Hollywood and New York City on Friday, citing serious financial challenges.
The announcement is in the company’s website On Thursday, the social media account comes two days after the company encourages people to sign up for membership in Instagram posts.
Eventually, members will collect their items from the club in less than 48 hours.
“Although Neuehouse created a very valuable business, unfortunately it was burdened by the legacy liabilities,” according to a post on the company’s website. “Although we did our best to find ways to sustainably develop, including exploring all possible solutions to these challenges, we made difficult decisions to reduce the business.”
The three locations are closed at 2pm on Friday. Board members said in a statement that they regret the impact of the closure on staff and members, but noted that they saw it as “the most responsible avenue to all of our stakeholders.”
Jennifer Duguay was caught off guard when he suddenly closed down. She joined the Venice location in mid-August and paid for a three-month membership.
In addition, she was upset on behalf of the sudden unemployed staff.
“In my short time, I made a meaningful connection with hard-working staff,” she said. “The walk was heartbreaking the day after the announcement. Despite being completely left in the dark, the staff showed up with grace and professionalism.”
Duguay said she never received an email telling her to close and knew members who paid the annual fee a few days before the announcement.

Membership fees listed on the Neuehouse website range from $3,600 per year to $8,000 per month for a private office, equivalent to $96,000 per year.

Neuehouse’s first clubhouse opened in New York City in 2013, amid a colleague frenzy that has emerged as joint ventures such as WeWork. However, in recent years, many spaces working together have been working hard to keep the door open.
Neuehouse attempts to combine the convenience and collaboration of co-working spaces with emerging and amenities of other member-only clubs such as Soho House and San Vicente Clubs, and sell members in workplaces, social and dining locations.
“For more than a decade, Neuehouse has been a hub for creativity, community, design and innovation, with pioneers convening to open boundaries and discover new ideas,” the board said in a statement. “Our mission has always been to provide space for creators, innovators and thought leaders to meet and connect.”
The company opens a Hollywood home in 6121 Sunset Blvd. 2013. It is located inside the former West Coast CBS headquarters, where it filmed classic shows like “I Love Lucy” and iconic musicians such as Janis Joplin and “Beach Boys.” The location offers a library, co-working space, writer’s room, juice bar, restaurant, podcast studio, screening room and rooftop terrace.
The Venice location opened in December 2022 in a 1922 building, which was built by “Sting” producer Tony Bill at 73 Market St., near several upscale restaurants and buzzing bars. It has co-working spaces, broadcast studios, podcast studios, bike and surfboard rentals, art galleries, private event spaces, and a rooftop restaurant and bar overlooking the ocean.
