Former New York State Government Andrew CuomoThose who ran for mayor of New York City met with Rev. Al Shapton on Friday.

Cuomo shared photos of the meeting on A New York City “Catched up with my old friend @Real_Sharpton for a great breakfast,” his restaurant on social media wrote.

Sharpton also shared the photo on his social media, saying they had a “breakfast meeting” while the Democratic candidate and mayor were mayors, Zohran Mamdani – He calls it a democratic socialist – will be on the show “Politics” this weekend’s MSNBC show.

The New York Post reported that Cuomo is likely to gain recognition from Sharpton, who has political influence. The New York Post reported that the former governor – resigned amid allegations of sexual misconduct in 2021 – asked civil rights activists to have “open minds” about the game.

“I was impressed by Mamdani, but I’ve known Andrew for 40 years and he went back to the 80s with his father,” Sharpton told the Post.

The meeting was due to current Democratic mayor Eric Adams withdrawing from the Democratic primary and running as an independent, but rumors say they are considering withdrawing from the campaign to seek potential job opportunities in the Trump administration. Adams has Denied planning to drop out of school.

A recent Siena Academy poll showed Mamdani had 25% support before his opponents, with Republican candidates Curtis Sliwa and Adams at 7%.

Sharpton had previously called on Cuomo to withdraw from the game after Mamdani defeated the Democratic primary.

“I think he should have them play one-on-one in the best interest of Andrew Cuomo’s legacy,” he said. “He can recognize one or the other and let them fight the most favorable battle in New York.”

Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopardi told The Post: “Governor Cuomo and Reverend Sharpton have stood side by side for decades, fighting for justice and progress. They meet with breakfast every now and then to discuss issues that are crucial to the city, state and country. Today’s meeting is both effective and positive.”
