Pentagon’s website and social media channels underwent major renovations on Friday on the president Donald TrumpThe claim reflects the new “Division of War” role of the U.S. Department of Defense, moving from decording.gov to war.
Trump signed an executive order on Friday directing the Pentagon to be appointed again as the so-called War Department, reinstateing a name after World War II to commemorate the U.S. turn to deterrence and become the main bastion against nuclear annihilation.
Trump said at the Oval Office ceremony that the change was about attitude, claiming: “It’s really about winning.”
“We won World War I, we won World War II, we won World War II, we won World War II,” Trump said during the signing of the order. “We then decided to wake up and change the name to the Department of Defense.”
The order authorized Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and other officials to use titles such as “Secretary of War” in official letters, although Trump also directed Hegseth to recommend changes to permanently recommend.
“We will continue to attack, not just defense. The greatest lethality, not dull legitimacy. The violence, not politically correct,” Hegss said at the signing ceremony on Friday. “We will develop the Warriors, not just defense.”
From the Ministry of War created by Congress in 1789 to the state military in 1947, to every previous name change of the Ministry of Defense in 1949. The possibility of rebranding is unclear, but any comprehensive effort will reduce taxpayers’ costs at hundreds of millions of dollars (or even billions of dollars) as every logo, logo, unity, computer, computer system, and official paperwork closely related to the Pentagon’s global ID card will need to be replaced.
