Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker appeared on reporter Katie Couric’s YouTube channel on Thursday to defend Chicago’s crime statistics Donald Trump Vowed to send the National Guard to the city to curb violence.
Pritzker says Chicago’s homicide rate has been cut in half over the past four years, a combination of policing programs and state investments for community programs.
“It’s not only in the police. I’ve invested a lot in the police department, but we’ve invested a lot in community violence intervention. These programs are working. We’re doing more in this regard than any other state, and it’s working on the streets of Chicago.”

Pritzker argued that Trump was unaware of the statistics, saying he “read nothing” and stood out in the crime situation in Chicago.

He claimed: “He didn’t know anything. He just wanted to know that Chicago was terrible. By the way, he always had it.”
The governor continues to criticize Trump, believing that he is “no rent” when Trump continues to push the National Guard to deploy in the city.

He said: “I also think I don’t have rent on that guy’s head.
Trump achieved socialization on Tuesday Call Pritzker After spending a Violent Labor Day weekend in the city. He asserted that he planned to intervene in Chicago to resolve the city’s crime.
“Over the weekend, at least 54 people were shot and eight were killed in Chicago and Pritzker needed help, he just didn’t know yet,” Trump said in a social media post on Tuesday. “I’ll fix the crime quickly, just like I’m in the District of Columbia. Chicago will be safe again, soon. Make America great again!”

Trump posted another truth social post Tuesday morning tagging Chicago as the “Murder Capital.”
Trump later doubled his emotions in the Oval Office and said places like Afghanistan “is not even close to” Chicago’s crimes. Additionally, he said that despite Pritzker’s objection, he had decided to send the National Guard to Chicago.
“If the Illinois governor would call me, I would love to do that,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday. “Now, we have to do it anyway. We have the right to do it because I have an obligation to protect this country.”
