I had to do it myself with the Dyson V16 Piston Animal (and the submarine variant), the company’s latest cordless vacuum cleaner, expected to launch in the US in 2026. New features of V16 Piston Animals
The V16 Piston is a stylish cordless vacuum with blue and yellow trim that gives it some talent.
Unlike light and portable pencenvac, it I’ve also tested itthe V16 is designed to be the company’s most powerful cordless vacuum cleaner to date. It has a 900-watt high-argon motor with 315-watt suction power and a unique Dustbin Dyson called CleanCompaktor.
Similar to the compacted bin on Dyson Pencilvac, V16 animals compress debris in the bin when vacuuming, keeping suction cups strong and clean. It does this by giving you some red leverage, which you can push down regularly to compress the dust. This is more manual than the Pencilvac using a bushing separation system, but it works just as well when I use V16 animals to absorb dirt and debris in Dyson’s SoHo store.

“As the vacuum is full, the fine dust filter and HEPA filter start to accumulate dust,” Tim Hare, design engineer at Dyson told me. “This limits airflow and reduces suction. A good vacuum will prolong the time before it occurs and fully restore suction when cleaning the filter. Dyson recommends periodically emptying the bin to maintain optimal suction and cleaning performance before the dust level reaches the maximum line.”
This is true for every vacuum absorption, but the first one I’ve heard of contains dusty features on a wireless vacuum cleaner. Similar technologies exist in robot vacuum Best Robot Vacuum List Use mechanical paddles to compress dust in the bin at reasonable price and strong performance.

The V16 will automatically adjust the suction and brush speed according to the floor type.
This technology also enables V16 piston animals to hold dust for up to 30 days, and when using the venting mechanism, the bin is wiped dry, so dust, hair or other debris should not be fixed, clinging to the wall of the bin.
This is one of my greatest grips, the most cordless vacuum cleaner. The garbage can is designed in such a way that there are usually rouge dust or debris that cling to the corner or cracks, forcing you to reach out or brush to pull things out. It’s rough, dusty everywhere, and usually the worst part of the vacuum cleaner. Dyson seems to have finally solved the problem. There are some other “quality of life” changes that Dyson points to me that might address some of the key issues I have encountered when using older Dyson models. First, the trigger you were asked to keep the vacuum disappeared. Now, it’s a simple button button, and it’s a boon for those of us who have to do a 30-minute or longer cleaning session. There is also a padding that your hands hold, and Dyson says should relieve muscle fatigue.
Dyson’s cleaners can be separated without having to bend.
Simply place your feet on your head and pull up to allow you to separate and secure without bending, and the head of all cleaning fluid falls off easily. Interestingly, there are a number of accessories built into the vacuum, including gap cleaning tools, so you can clean without having to carry other accessories with you, although you still include some.
Animal cleaning with Dyson V16 Piston
Piston Animals return to specs with 315AW, and according to Dyson, the cleaning capacity is increased by 50%. For reference, the V15 detection is one of our best choices, with 240AW, so this should be a very important leg. I used a vacuum cleaner in Dyson’s Soho store, tested it in a mixture of hardwood floors and low purple carpet and found it very useful in picking up everything thrown away.
The V16 piston has the same green LED lighting to help spot dust.
Like previous detection models, the V16 Piston Animal has a green LED dust decay feature that makes it easier to spot dust and debris, so I don’t have any issues with missing spots. You also get a five-stage HEPA filter with a swappable battery pack with a 70-minute battery life, and compatibility with the Mydyson application, which allows you to monitor filters and other settings.
The cleaning solution consists of two conical brush rods (similar to pencilvacs containing four) with improved anti-syncing ability. The design automatically prevents hair from moving from the thicker end of the middle cone to the thinner outer end of the cone, thus preventing the hair from wrapping, thereby sucking it into dust. I can’t test this feature in the store, but I’d like to try it at home with three cats and curly wife.
V16 Piston Animals also works with the new seabed head, which provides wet and dry mops.
It is worth noting that the vacuum cleaner also comes with smart features, and the new all-floor cone-sensing brush head automatically detects and adapts to the floor type. It not only adjusts the suction, it also adjusts the rotation speed, slows down on hard floors, and accelerates on carpet for better cleaning. I watched the work almost immediately when I moved from hardwood panels to carpet. It is worth noting that with the additional cyclone activation, the speed and intensity are observed to increase.
Dyson describes the new cleaning fluid as a combination of digital motorcycles’ higher cleaning capacity and dust coating capability of fluffy optical cleaner heads. There is also a new seabed head that adds wet and dry mop capability to Dyson. I can’t use it, but it comes with a 300ml tank, which Dyson says should be able to clean 1,180 square feet.

The prices of V16 Piston Animal and V16 Piston Animal submarines are not known, but both will begin in the U.S. in 2026.
