A California professor was charged for allegedly throwing tear gas cans at federal agents during a mass attack on a cannabis farm in July, resulting in more than 350 arrests Illegal immigration.
Jonathan CaravelloThe U.S. Attorney’s Office in Central California said in a press release Wednesday that it was a math professor at the Channel Islands of California State University charged with one count of assault by a federal officer using a deadly or dangerous weapon.
Federal agents raided on July 10 at Glass House Farms on a 160-acre cannabis farm in Camarillo, Ventura County, California. Prosecutors quoted court documents as saying that agents met protesters gathered at the entrance and used bodies and vehicles to prevent authorities from leaving the property.
At the time of the raid, violent clashes broke out between Ice Agents and about 500 protesters, some of whom waved the Mexican flag.

Prosecutors said protesters threw rocks on government vehicles, breaking windows and side mirrors. To ensure the safety of federal agents, officials said authorities deployed tear gas in the crowd.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Caravelo then picked up the can and threw it back to Border Patrol agents.

Fox News previously reported that the raid resulted in 14 children from Mexico and Honduras On the farm, they are allegedly used in the context of potentially forced labour, exploitation and violation of trafficking. A man detained on a farm has a history of violent crime, including attempted child exploitation.
