TCL has been using its e-reader NXTPaper display for several years, the most recent one is TCL 60 XE NXT Paper. But the phone’s upcoming premium version, the TCL NXT Paper 60 Ultra, adds two new features, found only in high-end phones (remote camera and stylus) for the price of medium-sized devices.
this Best phone calls under $500 Category has always been competitive and has high value mobile phones Samsung Galaxy A55,,,,, iPhone SE 2022 and Google Pixel 9a Package premium features at a lower price than high-end siblings. But TCL’s next phone is designed to compete with those heavy hitters by using a 3x zoom lens and a stylus. Although we will wait for their performance on paper tests, this separates the NXT Paper 60 Ultra from some peers.
The biggest drawback for Americans is: TCL has not announced the time to sell the NXT Paper 60 Ultra in the United States. It was launched on September 4 in Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific markets and starts at 449 euros (about $525 or £390) for 256GB of on-board storage, or 499 euros (about $580 or £430) for 512GB of storage.
The three rear cameras of the 60 Ultra are led by its 50-megapixel 3X periscope zoom camera, with optical image stabilization, capable of up to 100x zoom and a “telephoto macro”, and TCL asserts that close-up shots can be as detailed as other macro cameras. Its other two rear cameras include a 50-megapixel main shooter (also comes with OIS) and an 8-megapixel Ultrawide camera. It also contains 32 megapixel selfie shooter game.
The TCL NXT Paper 60 Ultra supports the T Pen Magic stylus, although it is not in a dedicated slot in the phone.
T-pen Magic is another big feature of the NXT Paper 60 Ultra, which supports what TCL says is pressure sensitive and has ultra-low latency. After Samsung stopped selling its Galaxy Note series, few phones supported this feature, mainly constituting the high-end Galaxy S25 Ultra and Budget Motorola Moto G Getlus. Note that the T Pen Magic Stylus is not suitable for the NXT Paper 60 Ultra, dedicated slots like other phones and sold separately, or bundled with a phone in a bundle for a 256GB storage option (about $583) phone for 549 euros or 549 euros (about $640).
The 60 Ultra also uses the next-generation TCL signature texture display technology, NXT Paper 4.0. TCL says that no matter how bright the screen you make, it has zero flicker or reflection. It also reduces blue light, making it easier for the eyes to watch in dim light at night.
In the 60 Ultra, TCL packs the Mediatek Dimente 7400 chip and 12GB of RAM (up to 12GB of storage can be borrowed for extra memory). For scrolling and reading, the phone has a 7.2-inch full HD (2,340×1,080 pixel resolution) display and a 5,200-MAH battery with 33-watt wired charging, and IP68 water and dust resistance. It comes with Android 15.
The TCL Movetime MT48 smartwatch for children is available in four colors.
Children’s NXTPaper phone, 5G children’s watch and projector
TCL announced three other products to be launched in the coming weeks and months, but only one projector will be available in the U.S.
NXT Paper 5G Junior brings the company’s display technology to a cell phone designed for children. It has a 6.7-inch screen with 120Hz refresh rate, 256GB of storage, with 8GB RAM, a 50-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter. When it launched in Europe in late October, it retailed for 249 euros (about $290, £215).
The TCL Movetime MT48 is the company’s smartwatch, designed in a variety of interesting colors (blue, pink, cream white and grey) for children. It uses L1 and L5 GPS to help parents track their children’s whereabouts, with traceable location history, custom security zones and real-time navigation.
Parents can use Watch’s Op-On-On 4G connection to video chat with their children, which probably requires a data subscription. The smartwatch’s IP68 is rated as dust and waterproof (same as the leading phone) and has a 900 mAh battery, which TCL says lasts 2.5 days on a single charge. It also includes what TCL calls “child safety AI,” although it is not clear what this requires. When launched in the UK, Spain, Germany, Italy and France in late October, the watch costs 150 euros (about $175, £130).
The TCL PlayCube projector is the only product that debuted in these products earlier this year at CES and MWC. It casts a 30-inch to 150-inch functional display with 750 ISO lumens image and has a battery that lasts 3 hours. Starting September 5, the initial release zones in the United States, Europe and Japan will be priced at 799 euros (approximately US$930, £690).
