Welcome to record: The Trump administration promises to “fight” the drug cartels after a strike against alleged Venezuelan drug ships.
what happened? On Tuesday, the United States destroyed a small boat carrying 11 people in the southern Caribbean. The ship was in international waters during the strike, and the destination was unclear, although Donald Trump said it was tied to the United States and the passengers were “Tren de aragua narcoterrorrists.”
What is a context? In recent months, the Trump administration has taken a series of positive actions against Venezuela, accusing it of “narcotics” and working with Venezuelan gangs who are transgender. Last week, the government sent several U.S. warships and launched attack submarines into the Caribbean near the country.
What is the overall situation? This may just be the beginning of the Trump administration’s war on the cartel. Trump has long expressed interest in taking direct military action against the cartel, including, during his first term, inquiring about sending missiles into Mexico with a target of “drug laboratories.” Last month, Trump signed an order directing drug cartels designated by his group as terrorist groups, including Tren de Aragua.
Why is this important? Tuesday’s strike represents a new, suspicious territory for the U.S. military. Although the Trump administration has been declared a foreign terrorist organization by Tren de Aragua, this does not give the president the power to order 11 people to die without any disguise. But the strike is likely to continue: Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters Wednesday: “This will happen again.”

I like a good space story. this From Vox Future Perfect companion Shayna Korol is no exception. She wrote that before humans manage to send people to Mars, space medicine – a real field of medical care! – There are a few things to figure out what that means for the human body.
The good news is that while there is still a lot to be done, researchers are starting to look at the problem. More importantly, anything they discover may also be a boon for human health on Earth. You can read Shana’s story here. I wish you a wonderful night and we will see you here tomorrow!
