Lake KariThe acting CEO of the US Global Media Agency (USAGM), which oversees Voice (VOA), announced Friday that 532 government positions have been canceled.
Lake’s mission is to reorganize USAGM and its affiliated broadcasters Donald TrumpExecutive order of March 14 aims to demolish USAGM operations. But Trump’s order faces legal obstacles, with a federal judge blocking Lake last week the voice of Michael Abramowitz as U.S. director.
As Americans enter Labor Day weekend, Lake announced her latest plan.
“Tonight, the US global media agencies launched a large number of full-time federal employees’ effectiveness or reduction of RIFs or RIFs. We are doing this RIF to the President’s instructions to help reduce federal bureaucracy, improve agency services, and provide more hard money for the American people.” Social Media.

“After this RIF, Usagm will continue to perform its statutory tasks and may improve its operational capacity and provide truth to people all over the world living under the murdered Communist government and other tyrannical regimes,” Lake continued. “I look forward to taking other measures in the coming months to improve the functionality of a very broken agency and ensure that the voice of the United States is heard abroad, most importantly.”
The Washington Post reported that the memorandum “multiple recipients” said the termination date was September 30.
The move is the latest attempt to remove VOA, an international broadcaster initially to fight enemy propaganda during World War II.

Lake Kari said cuts will help reduce the government’s bureaucracy.
VOA White House Director Patsy Widakuswara, one of the chief plaintiffs, sued Lake for allegedly closing the VOA, and he issued a statement about the memorandum.
“We found Lake’s ongoing attacks on our agency. We look forward to her testimony to see if her plan removed the rigorous scrutiny process required by Congress,” Widakuswara said.
“We have not seen any evidence so far, so we will continue to fight for what we believe is the law,” she continued.
Trump’s executive order led to administrative leave for about 1,300 VOA employees and terminated many contracts, effectively suspending the broadcaster’s first activity in 83 years’ history.
