I don’t quite disagree, although I do think some automakers will try to pass the $7,500 federal tax credit through at least a quarter of the other prices. Automakers with fresh EV models planned for late 2025 and 2026 may be better than their competitors. But tariffs will certainly reduce profit margins.

With GM. The automaker started selling adapters about a year ago to allow existing electric vehicles to use North American charging standard plugs on Tesla supercharger booths. Electric vehicle owners are delighted in the newly discovered freedom.

The additional adapter helps GM customers access EV Chargers with different charging rates and standards, which is a win of flexibility, but at the cost of simplicity.
