EIS, a former West Lake High School student, later admitted that he targeted teenagers with personal frustration and a desire to commit mass violence, prosecutors said. Prosecutors said text messages and communications showed that he had maintained a violent, extremist belief for many years and admired the mass murder.
In February, Wesley’s parents looked at EIS and showed little emotion. Enfessed 10 felony charges, including first-degree murder, premeditated attempted murder, assault with deadly weapons and false imprisonment for violence.
During this month’s two-day sentencing hearing, Wesley’s mother, Kelly, spoke directly to EIS, telling him that there is no worse nightmare than knowing that his face is the last thing his son might see.
“You took my son and a boy’s world away and this boy would become an amazing person,” she said in court. “At 15, he was more like a man than ever. You were not seen as powerful. You were seen as cowards, you were the one who chose to hurt children.”

Prosecutor Amber Lee had previously told the New York Times that EIS is considered a young criminal and will be eligible for parole hearings after serving 24 years.
Lee is senior deputy prosecutor Lee said prosecutors decided to accept defense to save the victims and their families from the trauma of proving the fatal attack during a long trial.
“These families suffered indescribable pain,” Lee said in a statement Tuesday. “This sentence brings finality without forcing them to relive the trauma of the trial.”
The violent rampage spanned three locations on the afternoon of April 18, 2023, 30 miles and several hours.
Prosecutors said Ess pepper sprayed and stabbed the Walmart receptionist in the Simi Valley, then attacked the second employee and tried to drag her away. He forced him into the family’s Camarillo home, where he threatened multiple people with a knife.
He then drove 20 minutes to Thousand Oaks and slammed his Toyota Camry into a group of students standing outside Westley High School, where Wesley was killed left and right, a 15-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl were injured.
According to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, the teenager described the broken body, sleepless nights and lasting trauma. Several Wesley’s friends attended the court hearing in “Wesley Justice” T-shirts.
