Lori Chavez-Deremer President Donald Trump For the Labor Secretary, testified on Wednesday on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee (Help) to present her support for the Protection of the Right to Organisation (PRO) bill.
Chavez-Deremer supports the bill as a representative of Oregon’s fifth congressional district. She told the Senator Wednesday that she no longer supports aspects of the bill, which would overturn Republican-sponsored Right to Work Act, which could make her support for some Republican senators who are reluctant to confirm her nomination.
The bill would effectively kill state-level laws to prevent employers and unions from requiring workers to pay union dues as a condition of their employment. Republicans, including Senator Rand Paul, r-ky.professional bills against overturning the law on the right to work. Paul said he would not support her if she continued to support the Professional Act.
Paul told Fox News Digital in a statement ahead of Chavez-Deremer’s hearing: “If she wants to make a public statement , saying that her support for professional behavior is incorrect and she no longer does this, then I will think of her nomination.”

As a member of the Help Committee, Paul had the opportunity to ask Chavez-Deremer about the Career Act on Wednesday.

“So you no longer support the Pro Act aspect that will overturn the state’s rights law?” Paul asked at the hearing.
Chavez-Deremer agreed that she no longer supported the aspects of the professional bill that would overturn the state’s right to work laws, replying: “Yes, sir.”
“Like President Trump, I believe our labor laws need to be updated and modernized to reflect today’s workforce and business environment,” Chavez-Deremer said Wednesday. “As a member of Congress, The bill is to conduct a bill that is of great importance to the people of Oregon’s fifth congress. I realize that the bill is not perfect, and I realize that I am no longer representing the Oregon Congressman.”

Senator Tommy TubervilleR-Ala. , also asked Chavez-Deremer about the bill, questioning whether she would change Alabama’s Right to Work Law.
“My voters at home want to know this. Are you going to change our position as a right to work?” Tuberville asked during the hearing.
“I respect the fact that you come from the right to work status, and I respect the fact that you can continue to be the right to work status,” Chavez-Deremer said.
Chavez-Deremer highlighted the difference between representing the female congressman on behalf of Oregon and representing Trump’s agenda for the Secretary of Labor.
“I signed up for the Pro Act because I represent the Fifth District of Oregon, but I also signed up for the Pro Act because I want to attend that table and have these conversations. I am completely, fully supportive of countries that want to protect their rights – Work ,” Chavez Dreman said.

Chavez-Deremer thanked Trump in her opening remarks and praised him for “the greatest political achievement of our time” (a new working-class American coalition).
