The 9950x3D is a 16-core processor with a base clock speed of 4.3GHz and a boost speed of 5.7GHz, just like its 2D sibling 9950x. I only see Apple hardware scores better. The results also show that AMD’s flagship chip is very helpful to Windows-based content creators. Should you buy Ryzen 9 9950x3d?
Just like NVIDIA’s $2,000 RTX 5090, I can’t easily recommend the $700 Ryzen 9 9950x3d to most people. The Ryzen 7 9800x3d will probably be better, and the game is more affordable, at $479. Of course, it has half the core, but most titles aren’t at the beginning. There is also $600 for 12-core 9900x3d, which may be more useful for those who actually need a healthy number of CPU cores.
Of course, you might consider AMD current chips without 3D V-CACHE, like the Ryzen 7 9700X, with a MSRP of $359, but currently Priced under $300. However, if you’ve already purchased an expensive video card on the market, getting more L3 cache may be worth mentioning. When AMD made its debut at 5800x3d, the company claimed that 3D V-CACHE C-CACH only improved the performance of the 1080p by 15%. As games become more complex and demanding, having more available caches may be more useful. (Now, it’s easier than buying new chips in a few years than buying new chips.)
