“Constructive criticism is one thing, threats during training, hate speech and even interference are another – it is unforgivable,” he said. A spokesperson for Swiatek said.
“We take the safety and security of all players and game attendees very seriously,” the Miami Open said in a statement. “We are constantly evaluating any potential threats and taking all measures to respond appropriately. To ensure the effectiveness of these efforts, we have not disclosed the details of the security action.”
The World Tennis Association added: “Player safety is our top priority. The WTA works closely with the Championships and its security teams to provide best practices for international sporting events to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
“There are comprehensive security protocols to ensure that any incidents are handled quickly and efficiently. These events are not the details we discuss publicly, but we are firmly committed to participating in one of our events for players and everyone to maintain a safe environment.”
