General Motors is turning to NVIDIA for its expanded collaboration to touch on all aspects of the automaker’s business, including factories, robots and autonomous vehicles, to help bring AI into the physical world.
NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang, who announced the partnership on Tuesday During his keynote speech at the GTC conference in San Joseit is time to say that self-driving cars have come.

According to Huang, the deal means NVIDIA will provide General Motors with AI infrastructure (GPUs in essence) and help automakers build their own AI.
NVIDIA has decades of relationships with the automotive and autonomous vehicle industries, providing GPUs to companies like Tesla, Wayve and Waymo for use in data centers or their vehicles. NVIDIA has also developed an autonomous vehicle platform for automakers, which includes an operating system called DriveOS that provides real-time AI processing and integration of advanced driving and cockpit capabilities. General Motors plans to partner with NVIDIA to use several products from the technology giant to build custom AI systems. GM did not disclose the financial value of the transaction.
General Motors will use Nvidia Omniverse to train AI manufacturing models with Cosmos to help it improve helping it build the next generation of factories and robotics. With Omniverse, GM will be able to build digital twins at its plants, or even assembly lines – which can actually test new production processes without disrupting existing vehicle production. This work will include training robotics platforms that GM has been used for operations such as material handling and transportation as well as precision welding.
The automaker will also use NVIDIA DRIVE AGX for on-board hardware to enable future advanced driver assistance systems and enhanced safe driving experiences within the Carbines.
