Anti-Defamation League (ADL) claims that many Wikipedia editors have participated in a “coordinated campaign” to smear State of Israel And violated the website’s policy to insert relative narratives into articles covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The new ADL report, titled “Editing for Hate: How Anti-Israel and Anti-Jewish Bias Undermines Wikipedia’s Neutrality,” is a collaborative investigation performed by researchers from the ADL and the Center for Technology and Society (CTS) that analyzed thousands of edits and chat logs from 30 “bad faith,” “suspicious” Wikipedia editors going back to 2002.
“Most readers assume Wikipedia is a reliable online encyclopediabut in reality, it has become a biased platform for many topics driven by the agenda. ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said in a statement.

For example, in an article about Zionism, Jewish self-determination movement, Zionism is defined as the “national cultural nationalist movement” that attempts to “establish Jewish states in Palestine, as many Jews as possible, and as few Palestinian Arabs as possible.”
In another article on the Palestinian liberation of Lebanon, the editor was conducted to cancel his murder and terrorism conviction in Israel, resulting in the killing of five people, including two young children, and to cancel his American terrorist name.
The ADL report said anti-Semitism in the United States soared in 2023.

One of the “suspicious” editors allegedly removed references to Palestinian violence and anti-Semitism, removing references to peer-reviewed academic articles that analyses suicide bombings during the Second Uprising.
ADL also argued that many changes were made to the Hamas Wikipedia article, which referred to the group as a terrorist group, removed sections about rocket attacks on Israeli civilians and deleted the 1,100 murders in Hamas. Terrorist attack on October 7among other changes.
The study claims that the 30 editors involved in the changes have already conducted over 1 million edits to more than 10,000 articles involving Israel and related topics, spending up to eight hours a day editing articles.
The report analyses data dating back to 2002 and found that the associate’s efforts intensified between 2022 and 2024 and increased significantly after October 7, 2023.

The report says that Arabic Wikipedia has widespread relative bias due to its violation of Wikipedia’s policies. The study says the Arabic articles about Hamas contain many examples to honor terrorist organizations and to amplify their information with little or no citations.
ADL has made a series of recommendations in Wikipedia, search engines and governments, including advising Google and other AI manufacturers to avoid using Wikipedia as a source until the website takes steps to combat bias within its coverage of Israel.
Wikimedia Foundation, which oversees Wikipedia, has no response Fox News Numbers Request a comment.
