West Virginia University spokesman April Kaull told the Wall Street Journal that without the ongoing funding of federal agencies, “our nation’s research universities cannot maintain research programs that are crucial to sustain sustained national prosperity.”

“It feels like all the work I’ve done in the last few years isn’t worth it,” Gracie Hines, a potential student at West Virginia University, told the Journal. “I’m really sad and sad.”
