According to the Austin-Travis County EMS, the huge pile of semi-trucks involved was a large pile along I-35 in the North Austin area Thursday night.
The agency said several people were “nailed in the car” after the shipwreck.
“Five cases (3 adults, 1 child, 1 infant) have been reported to the scene,” Austin-Travis County EMS wrote on X.

Of the 12 injured, three of them were children, officials said.
Part of the southbound I-35 trip to the crash appears to be closed early Friday morning.

“All lanes at N IH 35 SB are closed and will last for several hours. Please avoid this area and look forward to delays and find other routes,” the Austin Police Department wrote on X.
Austin-Travis County EMS Captain Christa Stedman told CBS Austin: “This incident is incredible and scattered about a tenth of a mile.
