Country singer Craig Morgan reveals the secret behind heroism that drives military and law enforcement to serve others in the face of dangerous situations.
In February 2011, the musician drove through Charlotte, Tennessee with his late son Jerry, when they discovered a house on fire. The two stop to help, and Morgan learns that the two children are inside, and he rushes into the Burning Home and rescues them without hesitation.
In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Morgan, 60, is now in a Long-term career In the U.S. Army, recalling what prompted him to act at the time and reflecting why first responders were forced to run towards danger.
“There is something in our DNA that needs us to act,” he said.

“And you’re talking about it with your family,” Morgan continued. “My son Jerry, we lost, it was him who saw the smoke, ‘Dad, turn around.’ I didn’t even see it.
“So, I do believe that he already has it in DNA, too.”
“He was ready to go with me,” Morgan said of Jerry, who was 14 years old at the time. “When he was a kid, he was ready to meet that house. My eldest son Kyle to this day – to this day – still won’t be where he sees people he might need. You know again, we don’t do those things.”

“Everybody I know, anyone I’m with, a lot of law enforcement guys I personally know, they don’t do these things for badges, ribbons and taps and talk about it,” Morgan said. “We do it because we think it’s the right thing and that’s what we should do.”

He continued: “This is the only reason I even want to talk about is because there are a lot of men and women who have not got any attention for this reason. So when you see those men and women wearing uniforms, whether it’s our army or our officers or our law enforcement officers, whatever they can say, because they do nothing, because they do something like this, because they do something like this, because they do something like this, because they’re used to it, because they do something like this.

After a heroic rescue in 2011, Morgan talked about his and Jerry’s reaction after discovering a house fire.
“We went into the gas station and ran there,” Morgan said. “The lady who owned the house came out with a fire extinguisher. I tried to put it out, but it didn’t work. One thing led to another, in just one minute, one side of the house was engulfed by flames.”
At that time, the homeowner told Morgan that her child was inside.
Using his skills and training as a former EMT, Army paratroopers Sheriff’s deputy Morgan acted quickly.

Looking back at that moment, Morgan told Fox News Numbers that he entered the Burning Building without hesitation.
“I ran right in,” he recalled. “I mean, like I said, that’s what you do. I can’t imagine standing there watching or videos something like that instead of trying to help.”

“That’s exactly what we’re going to do,” Morgan added. “And I don’t want everyone to feel the same way. I respect that. I agree with that. But it’s who I am. It’s my DNA again.”
“And I just remember running… there was a kid, a little boy,” the singer continued. “He doesn’t want to come to me. He’s scared and reasonable. Some strangers come to his house to take him out.
“But I remember him taking him out and giving him to his mother. I remember him looking back and once he was with his mother, he wouldn’t be afraid anymore. But, you know, it’s just what you did.”
Morgan rescued the homeowner’s two-year-old son and six-year-old son. Once the family is secure, he continues to use a fire extinguisher to extinguish the flames until the fire department arrives.

Morgan’s military career began in 1989 when he joined the army. He was deployed to Panama as part of the operation, a mission for the United States to end with the surrender of Manuel Noriega, a dictator of Central American countries.
During his two deployments to Iraq during the Gulf War, he also served in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions. After 10 years of active service, Morgan joined the Army Reserve and took off as his musical career began.

Even after leaving the armed forces, Morgan always felt a call to help those in need. In 2017, he traveled to Thailand with the nonprofit Exodus Road to rescue children from human trafficking.

The tour also includes performances by Trace Adkins, Deana Carter and Emily Ann Roberts, and the summer will continue throughout the summer, on September 6 at Lakeside Marbehead, Ohio’s Lakeblehead Marbehead, Ohio.

Before the tour, Morgan told Fox News that he was looking forward to spending time with his closest friends while traveling to the country.
He said: “We have always been dear friends.” Sheldon. “Honestly, he is one of my best friends in the music industry. Maybe my best friend in the music industry.”
“But we don’t meet each other like everyone thinks we do,” he continued. “We don’t like hanging out together all the time. We both have such a busy life and we’re doing different things. So it’s exciting to know that we can meet and hang out and visit each day.”
“and Morgan added: “Trace Adkins is also a dear friend and has been around for a long time. I have a great respect for Trace and his passion for our service members, our country, his love for God, family and nation.”
“And I could say the same thing for Blake, but it’s great to have some time to visit and hang out.”
